Fleksy launches the first keyboard app store on Android

April 01, 2019

Featuring Yelp, Giphy, Skyscanner, GifNote and many more content providers available directly inside Fleksy’s AI-keyboard

Fleksy, the world’s fastest keyboard, is officially launching its own app store called the Fleksyapp store. Fleksyapps are a new type of apps integrated directly within the keyboard, letting users access their favourite apps right from the convenience of their keyboard without ever having to leave the messaging app they’re using.

For now, Fleksy integrates Yelp, Skyscanner, Giphy, GifNote, Vlipsy and Emogi with more already lined up to be added in the next few months. Navigation, localization, ride-hailing, translation, weather, horoscope, accommodation booking and micropayments apps are already in the pipeline.

The launch of this service is a direct answer to recent studies demonstrating that on average, adults in the U.S. spend an average of 23 hours per week texting while switching between 30 different apps per day, resulting in having to continuously go from one app to the other while texting.

Olivier Plante, CEO of Fleksy adds “For the first time, Android users have the freedom to use any apps they wish in their keyboard in comparison to having restrictions to use the proprietary services from other tech giants like Google (Gboard) and Microsoft (Swiftkey).

John vanSuchtelen, Co-Founder & CPO at Gifnote says “We couldn't be more excited to bring the power of the world's popular songs with GIFs, videos and photos to the new Fleksyapps platform"

These apps are benefiting from Fleksy’s AI assistant called Fleksynext which detects the service you need when you need it most in a conversation.
For example, when chatting with your friend about which sushi restaurant you should go to, Fleksy automatically suggests you Japanese restaurants nearby thanks to Yelp's rich business content.

Importantly, Fleksy has built this service with privacy in mind. The Fleksynext engine is working locally on the user’s smartphone without ever communicating any of the data back to Fleksy or to any other third-parties, including the suggested Fleksyapps.

For now, Fleksy has all these apps available by default on the keyboard, but in the future users will be able to remove and discover new apps via a dedicated Fleksyapp Store.

Fleksy with Fleksyapps and Fleksynext can be downloaded for free from in the Play Store.
